Day 1 : Toronto –
Tunis
Depart Toronto for Tunis via Paris.
Day 2 : Tunis – Hammamet
Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a local representative
and transferred to your hotel in Hammamet. D
Day 3 : Hammamet – Tunis – Carthage – Sidi Bou Saïd – Hammamet
Spend the day exploring the capital city of Tunis and its
surroundings. Tour the Medina and Bardo National Museum, followed
by a visit to the archaeological site of Carthage and Antonin’s
thermal baths in the afternoon. Depart for the blue and white
village of Sidi Bou Saïd. Admire the scenery from a local café
overlooking the Bay of Tunis and try mint tea before returning to
Hammamet. B/D
Day 4 : Hammamet – El Jem – Sfax – Gabès – Djerba
Spend the day exploring El Jem and its Roman amphitheatre, one
of the best preserved. Continue to the city of Sfax and El Jara de
Gabès market. Overnight in Djerba. B/D
Day 5 : Djerba
Enjoy a full day of discovery including an island tour of
Djerba: photo-op on the Roman road, followed by a tour of
Sédwikche and visit to the Berber market. Stop in the village of
Guellala and visit a pottery workshop. Then continue to El Ghriba
Synagogue and enter the prayer room. Depart for the island capital
of Houmt Souk, visit the fishing harbour and enjoy free time.
Return to the hotel for an afternoon at leisure. B/D
Day 6 : Djerba – Tataouine – Chenini – Tataouine
Depart for Tataouine to tour the city and markets. Cross the
mountain to the Berber village of Chenini and visit a typical ksar.
Overnight in Tataouine. B/D

Day 7 : Tataouine
– Matmata – Douz
Visit the famed Ksar Haddada, where Star Wars was filmed, followed
by a tour of Matmata and a troglodyte dwelling. Travel to Douz,
“the gateway to the Sahara”, via the rock desert. Discover the
modern village of Zaafrane on a camel’s back (must be booked and
paid for locally, approx. 20 dinars per person). Return to the
hotel in Douz or take a 4x4 to a desert encampment for an optional
overnight stay, where you can watch the sun set over the sand
dunes, have dinner and spend the night under a Bedouin tent.
(Excursion must be booked and paid for prior to departure. $139

Day 8 : Douz – Kébili – Tozeur
Travel to Tozeur via Kébili to the immense Chott El Jerid salt
lake and admire its incredible mirages. Visit Tozeur and Dar
Cheraït Museum. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure, optional
horse-drawn carriage ride in the oasis of Tozeur (must be booked
and paid locally, approx. 20 dinars per person) or night of
folklore including dinner (must be booked and paid for locally,
approx. 35 dinars per person). B/D
Day 9 : Tozeur – Chebika – Tamerza – Mides – Nefta – Tozeur
Morning at leisure or optional ride aboard the Lézard Rouge train
(must be booked and paid locally, approx. 30 dinars per person).
Spend the afternoon on a 4x4 exploring the Chebika mountain oasis
and its village of stone, followed by tours of Tamerza and Mides.
Return to Tozeur. B/D
Day 10 : Tozeur – Gafsa – Kairouan – Nabeul or Hammamet or Port
el-Kantaoui or Sousse
Depart for Kairouan via Gafsa. Visit Aghlabides’ Basins, the
mausoleum of Sidi Sahbi, the Oqba Mosque and an Oriental rug
factory. Transfer to the hotel of your choice for your seaside
getaway. B/D
Days 11 & 12 : Nabeul or Hammamet or Port el-Kantaoui or Sousse
Seaside getaway. B/D
Day 13 : Nabeul or Hammamet or Port el-Kantaoui or Sousse –
Tunis – Toronto
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to Toronto via
