Day 1 : Toronto –
Sao Paulo – Salvador de Bahia
Depart Toronto for Salvador via Sao Paulo.
Day 2 : Sao Paulo – Salvador de Bahia
Take a commuter flight from Sao Paulo to Salvador. Upon
arrival, you will be greeted by a representative. Salvador was the
first colonial capital of Brazil and was the largest Portuguese
speaking city after Lisbon. Today it is the fourth most populous
Brazilian city with more African presence than any other place in
the country. Enjoy a panoramic city tour with admission to the
baroque church of Nosso Senhor Do Bonfim, followed by a visit to
Mercado Modelo, the largest handicraft market in northeast Brazil.

Day 3 : Salvador de Bahia
Spend the day in Bahia, Brazil’s Capital of Happiness, known
for its unique ambience, architectural treasures and baroque
splendour. Tour the historic centre and Pelourinho neighbourhood,
a Unesco World Heritage Site whose baroque churches and brightly
painted homes make it a true work of colonial art. Visit the
Church of Sao Francisco and a basilica, followed by a lunch of
local fare and time at leisure in this charming city that throbs
to the beat of local music, day and night. B/L/D
Day 4 : Salvador de Bahia
Day at leisure or participation in optional excursions, such
as a full-day tour of the picturesque village of Cachoeira,
located past sugarcane, cocoa and tobacco plantations (lunch
included, excursion must be booked and paid for prior to
departure, minimum 2 participants required, $180 CAD per person)
or a full-day tour of Praia Do Forte, where the region’s most
beautiful beaches are found (lunch included, excursion must be
booked and paid for prior to departure, minimum 2 participants

Day 5 : Salvador de Bahia - Rio de Janeiro
Transfer to the airport for your commuter flight to Rio de
Janeiro and discover the charm of this marvellous city, located
between ocean and mountains in the world’s most beautiful bay.
Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a representative and
transferred to the city. Take a cable car up the famous Sugarloaf
Mountain, a symbol of protection that watches over Guanabara Bay.
The mountain rises 395 metres above Rio de Janeiro, offering a
stunning view over the city: coastline and Copacabana’s curving
beaches on one end, and the Flamengo city centre on the other.

Day 6 : Rio de
Janeiro
Travel by train on the Corcovado Railway or drive through the
forest to the 710-metre Corcovado Mountain that dominates Rio. The
giant statue of Jesus is located atop its peak, from which you can
see the city’s layout and admire one of the best views of Rio.
Explore the city’s colonial downtown area, Candelaria Church,
lively little streets and ancient colonial dwellings dating back
to the 18th and 19th centuries. Then take a panoramic city tour
passing Flamengo Park, the Sambadrome and mythical Maracana
(exterior view), the world’s largest soccer stadium. B/L
Day 7 : Rio de Janeiro - Paraty
Morning and lunch at leisure. Depart for Paraty, a Unesco
World Heritage Site since 1966 with colonial architecture against
a mountainous backdrop. Isolated and neglected for over 50 years,
Paraty remains the best preserved of Brazil’s 17th and 18th
century cities. Stroll through the historic centre and admire its
stone paved back-alleys, house façades decorated with earthenware,
and vibrantly coloured shutters and doors. This small town is
surrounded by verdant hills plunging into the sea. Overnight in a
Pousada. B
Day 8 : Paraty
Embark on a traditional schooner for a day at sea in an
archipelago of emerald-green waters and tiny tropical islands.
Stop at several remote islands for swimming and have lunch on
board. Mid-afternoon return to Paraty. B/L
Day 9 : Paraty - Rio de Janeiro - Toronto
Depart for Rio de Janeiro and stop for lunch along the way.
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Toronto via Sao Paulo.

Arrival in Toronto.
